It's Time!

For a Rest!

I think it's time to let the Blog rest for a bit.

All has been thankfully stable in Steven's brain since last June. While stable is what we pray for and always want to hear, there is not much to report in the medical aspects of Steven's story.

And with Steven away at college, the main part of this story, the way that he chooses to live with this disease, is missing. While he is so far from home I simply don't have the anecdotes of the amazing way that Steven, despite all that has been placed on his young shoulders, faces life with a unique sweetness and undeniable courage.

Pictures of tumors and holes in the brain are truly one-dimensional if the stories of Steven's courage don't follow.

Plaudits of sweetness can turn hollow pretty quickly when the stories are missing!

And he is nineteen now.

A college freshman.

I have such a difficult time with not stepping over the boundaries of impropriety. It's so hard to decide what I should and shouldn't share.

He is not here to add his input.

And it is his life!

So as long as we're quiet, all is stable.

Stable is a good resting time. It's a time to rejuvenate and gather strength.

But stable doesn't mean cured.

Steven will continue with MRIs of his brain every six months. He will continue yearly scans of the abdomin. Steven's retinas will continued to be watched and his urine will also be analyzed yearly.

Stable doesn't mean easy.

So please continue to keep Steven in your thoughts and prayers. Based on a few comments recently, I do believe that this insidious disease plays a lot more with Steven's mind than he has ever admitted.

He needs stable.

He needs a cure.

I totally agree with Angela! I'm sure you have many stories to share.

I'm glad that everything is stable with Steven right now, and I hope it stays that way for a long, long time. I'm still working on my VHL page for my blog, and I'm going to link to this one still. I think his story is so encouraging. What an amazing young man...but I don't have to tell you that! Steven and your family will ALWAYS be in my thoughts and prayers.
